Cst. Scott rescued a mother and two children from a house fire in Springhill, Nova Scotia, on April 7, 1994. Unfamiliar with the lay-out of the house, Cst. Scott made his way up the smoke-filled stairs, guided by cries for help. He opened the bedroom door and found the three frightened people. Giving the mother his flashlight, he instructed her to go down the stairs while he carried both children. Despite the thick, toxic smoke, Cst. Scott was able to bring all three to safety.
