Constable Gilles Bouchard, M.B. Constable Sylvain Charbonneau, M.B. Medal of Bravery On June 17, 1994, Csts. Bouchard and Charbonneau of the Montréal Urban Community Police Department in Quebec saved a man from a burning apartment. The first to arrive on the scene, the constables learned that a man was still in his apartment on the second floor. They climbed up to the second floor and heard a feeble moaning coming from inside. Despite the possibility of a back draft, the two officers burst in, but were forced back by the thick smoke. It was only on their second attempt that Csts. Bouchard and Charbonneau were able to grab hold of the unconscious victim and bring him to safety.
