The following comments are hypotheses only. The books symbolize knowledge and indicate that the College is a centre of learning. The Latin words ARTES and SCIENTIA mean “arts” and “science” respectively, thus referring to the name and mandate of the college. The falcon represents the “hawk” element of the word “Mohawk” in the College’s name. The trillium is the floral emblem of Ontario, where the College is located. |

Its colours may allude to those of the medicine wheel, which is an important element in many Indigenous Peoples’ cultures. The moose and trillium repeat the symbolism of the Crest. |
