Creston, British Columbia
In 1985, Shelagh Schmidt founded the Creston chapter of Special Olympics British Columbia; since then, she has taken on the roles of administrator, coach and provider of services to persons with intellectual disabilities. For the past 18 years, she has volunteered with the board of the Cresteramics Society for the Handicapped, which supports individuals in the Creston Valley area.
