Roland Larivière has been volunteering since 1947. His involvement with those most in need took him to Guatemala and Romania, where he helped to build orphanages. Since his retirement, he has continued to serve his community. He volunteers with his church; puts together food hampers for the Saint-Vincent de Paul de l'Assomption; and collects, sorts and repairs items for the less fortunate who depend on the Comptoir Régional de Beauce. He is a founding member of Moisson-Beauce, a food bank created in 1994 that serves Beauce-Etchemins. Today, he donates his time to two administrative boards and continues to repair microwave ovens, which he sends to Guatemala. He also serves as a guide and interpreter for Spanish-speaking new arrivals.
