When she retired in 1999, Andrée Clermont started volunteering at the Maison du Père homeless shelter, where she learned that the slightest gesture of kindness ? of listening or lending a helping hand ? holds immeasurable value. Since 2000, she has met weekly with groups of seniors, to familiarize them with computers and the Internet. She joined the PalliAmi Foundation in 2000, where she serves as a companion to end-of-life patients and their loved ones. Her extensive life experience, her empathy, her humour, and her readiness to devote her time have helped to brighten the last days of numerous patients
