Dwight Elgin Swerdfeger, Cobourg, Ontario
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
For over 50 years, Dwight Swerdfeger has served and led many church committees. He has been a member of the Whitby Rotary Club for over 30 years and as chair of the Community & International Service, has travelled to India to offer job training, improve access to clean water and teach health awareness. He has driven over 1,600 patients of the Cancer Society and the Cobourg & District Community Care to medical appointments as far away as Kingston, Toronto and Peterborough. He has also supported the Cobourg Highland Games as a committee member since 1965. An ardent volunteer with an array of community commitments, Mr. Swerdfeger is unremitting in his zeal to help others.
