    Stanley Gerald Green (posthumous), Green's Harbour, Nfld. Governor General's Caring Canadian Award Stanley Green, who was blind, began an annual walkathon in 1988 to raise funds for the CNIB and to provide white canes and low-vision aids for people who could not afford such items. He organized and conducted eleven walkathons in the small community of Green's Harbour, raising in excess of thirty-five thousand dollars. Mr. Green was also an active Lions Club member, organizing the annual Santa Claus parade and an annual event for seniors, and helped raise funds for other charitable organizations.
