Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
After a career as a school administrator and teacher for children with disabilities, Doreen Kenmuir has volunteered daily in her community for the past fifteen years, caring for people who are ill or dying. She organized activities for people with multiple sclerosis, including a regular exercise class, various outings, and weekly bingo nights. Currently, she is active in pastoral care and visits hundreds of patients a year at two local hospitals, sharing as much time with them as needed, and assisting in any way possible.
