Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Doug Bean has volunteered his time and talents to the veterans and senior citizens of Kings County for decades. He initiated a popular Legion program, whereby he joined veterans of the First World War and their families in their homes for card games and company. He continues to visit veterans and the elderly at home and hospital, and travels throughout the county as a member of "The Upper Reflections", a musical variety group that provides entertainment for people living at nursing homes.
