Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
For more than a decade, Maurice Ahern has arranged for a bus to bring the wives of veterans at Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Veteran's Hospital for a weekly visit with their husbands. He initiated the program and accompanies the women to visit with their loved ones. Mr. Ahern is also a volunteer driver for the Ecumenical Community Service, driving people with illnesses to local hospitals and clinics.
