Whether working one-on-one or serving on boards and committees, Joan Berndt has demonstrated her concern for her community. A volunteer with the Children's Aid Society of Metropolitan Toronto for more than twenty years, she strives to improve child welfare by meeting the needs of disadvantaged or abused children, assisting parents, and implementing new community programs. She is also involved with a number of groups concerned with neighbourhood services, and planning and housing for senior citizens.
