    Erin M. Putman, Vancouver, British Columbia Governor General's Caring Canadian Award Erin Putman's volunteer work within the community is extensive. She has volunteered at Horizons of Friendship, an organization that raises funds for development projects in third-world countries. She has also given her time to the Association for Community Living helping the mentally and physically challenged. She has delivered Christmas hampers for the Salvation Army and was the chairperson of the Cobourg Presbytery Youth Council. Mrs. Putman also had a four-year involvement with the high school peer-helping program and organized a school-wide sexual awareness week. She was instrumental in leading others in numerous volunteer community fundraising activities for organizations such as the Children's Wish Foundation, the Cancer Society, the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.
