Adéline Johnson Pétrin, Gracefield, Que.
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Adéline Johnson Pétrin is committed to people in her community, especially youth. Among other things, she is working to establish a youth centre, works with Action-Famille to intervene with young people and their families, and volunteers at the Foyer d'accueil de Gracefield one day a week. She is also involved in making costumes for school plays. Several years ago, Mrs. Johnson Pétrin organized a women's softball league and, with the help of her family, established a park on a lot near her house. In winter, the park has a skating rink where she monitors the safety of the children and provides used skates to children who need them.
