Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Nancy Puri has volunteered with a variety of community organizations over the years. An active member of the Hyack Festival Association since 1979, she arranges decorations and seating, chaperones events, and arranges for Canadian Navy personnel to be involved in festival activities. She also chaperones young girls participating in a New Westminster tradition, the May Day ceremonies. A YM/YWCA director, Mrs. Puri has also raised funds to support projects in the Developing World and organized annual fashion shows and dinners to support other Y projects benefiting refugees, children in need and teens at risk.
