Janet King has offered behind-the-scenes help to many people over the last fifty years. A tireless church volunteer and member of the Legion of Mary, she has visited and assisted people who are elderly, visually impaired, or living with physical handicaps or terminal illnesses. She has prepared meals for them, cleaned their homes, driven them to appointments and listened to them, offering understanding and comfort. Mrs. King also visits and counsels people who are in jail, who are homeless or who have problems with substance use. She prepares food for community gatherings and is active in many church functions, including the maintenance of church pews, candles and flowers.
