John Roy Leadbetter, Moncton, N.B.
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
John Leadbetter has volunteered with bands, a musical society, his church, the Masons, the Celiac Society and a senior citizens club. However, he is better known for his work as special events coordinator of Moncton Clown Troupe #6. As any one of the several clown characters he has developed, Mr. Leadbetter attends innumerable charity and community events, promoting and raising money for the "Sneaker Fund", a non-profit division of the Shriners that provides financial support for their children's hospitals and burn units. When he is not performing, he also teaches children the art of clowning.
