Lucienne Boucher Buchanan, Laval, Quebec
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
For 34 years, Lucienne Boucher Buchanan has generously shared her talents and skills as a seamstress and costumer in support of the Club de patinage artistique de Laval. She has crafted thousands of skating outfits by hand for young skaters, designing outfits for competitions and skating shows. She has also devoted considerable time each week to committee work, particularly in relation to synchronized skating. Outside the arena, she has sat on the fundraising committee for Maison des soins palliatifs de Laval, a care residence for terminally ill patients, and has given much of her time to Leucan, an organization that provides financial and emotional support to children with cancer and to their families.
