Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
For 30 years, Lucy French has donated countless hours to her community. She has delivered Meals on Wheels for the West Island Volunteer Bureau and has organized numerous fundraisers for local women's shelters. A dedicated parishioner, she has been involved in senior outreach programs and has assisted many friends and family members during times of crisis. She has demonstrated her concern for the welfare of women through her extensive efforts with the Women's Institute, serving in many key positions at the provincial and national levels of the organization. In particular, she has helped to provide programs and services for rural women and their families, and to advance AIDS education among women.
