Betty Savoie began volunteering at the age of 10, helping her mother raise funds for the first hospital in
Lamèque and assisting at the blood clinic. She was involved with the Majorettes "Les Rouges-Gorges" and with
Scouts Canada, and became a dedicated hockey and figure skating coach. Ms. Savoie is still very active within
the community, singing in the church choir and raising funds for the arthritis and cancer societies.
