Sally Chapman, Ottawa, Ont.
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Sally Chapman volunteered with the Girl Guides of Canada for 16 years as guider, camp advisor, District and Division Commissioner and, finally, as National Representative to Australia for the Girl Guides World Camp. She had an 18-year association with the Canadian Ski Marathon where she provided support at one of the skiers' checkpoints each year. In her last five years as checkpoint leader, she also found time to act as assistant to the Director of Operations, taking on the responsibility for the skiers' accommodation and organizing the annual volunteer banquet. Mrs. Chapman continues to be involved in many aspects of community life.
