Beatrice Berg, Yorkton, Sask.
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Beatrice Berg was for years involved in her community, her church and the Business and Professional Women's Organization. In the mid-1980s, she developed a concept to help seniors take more responsibility for their own health. She began volunteering her time and energy to encourage seniors' groups to establish health screening clinics in their centres and more than 150 such clinics have since been created. Mrs. Berg is still actively promoting the concept across the country.
