    Paul Emberley, Bay de Verde, Newfoundland and Labrador Governor General's Caring Canadian Award A former postmaster of Bay de Verde and volunteer commissioner of oaths for 32 years, Paul Emberley seizes every opportunity to promote and assist his community. He founded many municipal committees and was the driving force behind the creation of an access highway for Bay de Verde residents to the hospital in Old Perlican. For 13 years, he acted as a lay reader for his church and has conducted hundreds of services. He has delivered Sunday dinner to one disadvantaged individual for 15 years. He has regularly visited many shut-ins and hospital patients and has always been willing to provide a meal, lodging or a town history lesson to locals and tourists.
