For more than 35 years, Fred Simonaitis has helped develop the sport of karate throughout northern Ontario, serving as a board member with the Ontario Karate Federation and, currently, as vice-chair of the Thunder Bay Martial Arts Council. He also co-founded the Northern Karate Association, through which he has coached athletes, established clubs and organized qualifying tournaments in smaller communities.
