Dr. Reid has served his community of Selkirk, Manitoba, by helping to develop a community health team and a crisis centre, and supporting music and the Block Parents scheme. In the realm of sports, his great Interest is water-skiing. From local leadership in the sport he has advanced to the presidency of the Canadian Water Ski Association, and is recognized as an able competition judge. He has also taught blind people to participate and founded a water-ski museum.
