Throughout a distinguished career as a federal public servant, he dedicated himself to the promotion of peace and reconciliation. In the 1950s, he worked alongside Lester B. Pearson at the United Nations to help create the first international peacekeeping force. Later, he drafted policies that would have a lasting impact on our country's approach to foreign affairs and on government negotiations with Canada's Native peoples.
