He has been of great service in promoting bilingualism. He is a former rector of the University of Moncton and played a key role in establishing the first law school outside Quebec to offer courses only in French. Although now retired, he works as a consultant with the Centre de commercialisation internationale to foster small business development in New Brunswick and sits on the boards of many charitable organizations.
