Both a physician and an administrator, he is one of the unique individuals who has been able to bridge the gap between the administration and delivery of health care. During his career he has made important contributions to academic medicine, health economics and community health. As Executive Director of the Association of Canadian Medical Colleges, he was a particularly effective spokesman on the special role and needs of academic teaching hospitals.
