She is the quintessential volunteer who has worked tirelessly toward improving the status of women, exercising her belief in the need for equal opportunities, by her service in a broad spectrum of activities at the national and international levels. She holds the distinction of being the first woman president of the Canadian Jewish Congress and was a founding member of the Portage Program for Drug Dependency and Auberge Shalom Kosher Shelter for battered women. Her work in developing a kosher meals-on-wheels program has provided a vital link for the senior citizens of Montreal and has done much to foster their autonomy.
