Her humanitarianism has enhanced the quality of life for thousands of Canadians in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. She has been a dedicated teacher and a wise and caring counsellor, who has mentored troubled individuals of all ages and from all walks of life. Inspired by her belief that education is the key to breaking the cycle of unemployment, she worked towards organizing an equivalency program to help mature students obtain a high school education. Known as a gentle caregiver, she has also devoted herself to palliative care, offering psycho-social support to patients and their families.
