His powerful and award-winning novels, including Through Black Spruce, Three Day Road and The Orenda, explore the intersection of First Nation and European cultures, and deepen our understanding of modern-day Canadian society. Known as an engaging public speaker and a committed social activist, he generously supports a variety of causes related to mental health, the environment and the treatment of Indigenous people.
