A distinguished gynecologist, radiation oncologist and cytopathologist, he is one of the world's leading authorities on the detection and treatment of cervical cancer. While he has provided medical and scientific leadership at many levels, he became best known as Director of the Cancer Control Agency of British Columbia which under his leadership developed into a nationally and internationally emulated facility for the prevention, detection and treatment of all forms of cancer.
