After making major contributions to the Canadian agriculture and food industry throughout a many-faceted career as a farmer, teacher, leader of agricultural organizations and long-time farm broadcaster for the CBC, he decided to use his expertise to help others. Through his Developing Countries Farm Radio Network, millions of subsistence farmers in Third World nations are taught, in their own language, easy and inexpensive methods to improve their farming practices and thus their lives.
