An adult educator in the Keewatin district of the Northwest Territories for many years, he was one of the first to begin reversing the tragedy of a people who were losing their language and culture. He is greatly respected for his tireless efforts at instigating new programs, including retraining for unemployed youth and introducing elders into the classrooms, thus helping to revive and strengthen the Inuit heritage during a time of intense technological, economic and social change.
