Recently retired Chief Justice of British Columbia, his contributions to the law, legal and higher education, the Canadian judiciary, labour relations and the arts and letters have been outstanding. His diligence, integrity and social obligation demonstrated through his participation in numerous commissions, international conferences and community organizations have inspired others to strive to match his own high standards in the administration of justice and civic responsibility.
