Recognized as one of the foremost theological educators of our time, he has served in important positions in the United Church of Canada, the World Council of Churches and many scholarly societies here and abroad. Founding Director of the Toronto School of Theology and currently Principal of Emmanuel College, he is an international elder of the inter-faith movement whose quiet wisdom, diplomacy and devotion have created understanding and co-operation among Christian and non-Christian religious communities.
