He joined the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in 1941, rising to be its Vice-President of Engineering Operations and ultimately Senior Vice-president. During his tenure of office the CBC expanded its television services to remote areas by the use of satellite, making Canada the first country to do so, and completed the conversion to colour from coast to coast.
