A paediatrician, he is a leader in the Winnipeg Chinese community and the guiding force in the development of a major Chinatown renewal project. An ardent advocate of multiculturalism, he is also active in refugee and immigrant assistance agencies such as the Manitoba Joint Refugee Coordinating Committee and the Canadian Foundation for Refugees.
