An accident at a hydro-electric project in Newfoundland left him a quadriplegic. Yet his example has inspired many disabled persons to build successful lives. With but limited use of one arm, he graduated from Memorial University. He then went on to study law at Dalhousie and while in Halifax helped to prepare new legislation on the disabled. Called to the Newfoundland Bar, he now works in the provincial department of Justice.
