Since she first joined the IODE in Toronto to help with the war effort, she has devoted her time and energy to volunteer work through the Red Cross, the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and other community service organizations. Her dedication to her work with veterans and the handicapped has earned her, among other tributes, the Distinguished Service Award of the Canadian Red Cross Society.
