During his long medical directorship of the Canadian Arthritis and Rheumatism Society in British Columbia he has created a model of care for persons with long-term illnesses. In this he has had success in pooling the efforts of governments, institutions, professionals and volunteer groups into an integrated programme of treatment, research and education. His many lectures abroad have won additional fame for the Arthritis Centre in Vancouver.
