Jacques Yves Montplaisir is a leader in the field of sleep medicine. A professor at Université de Montréal, he is renowned for having made critical advances in the study of such disorders as insomnia and hypersomnia. By identifying the causes and consequences of sleep disorders on physical and mental health, he helped develop treatments that have improved the well-being of thousands of Canadians. An outstanding administrator, he distinguished himself as the head of the Center for Advanced Research in Sleep Medicine (CARSM), the first of its kind in Canada and one of the first in the world.
