As a mentor to Afghan medics from September 2009 to April 2010, Corporal Sagstuen was an outstanding medic, soldier and instructor. His personal commitment improved the medical capacity of the Afghan National Army and contributed to the welfare of Afghan soldiers. He repeatedly provided exceptional care, laudable medical instruction and leadership in traumatic situations.
