On March 2, 2021, Corporal Domonkos, a CH 149 Cormorant flight engineer, performed brilliantly while participating in a search and rescue mission of the fishing vessel Atlantic Destiny, 240 kilometres off the coast of Nova Scotia. He demonstrated extraordinary commitment and professionalism during the precision lowering of two search and rescue technicians onto the Destiny, the subsequent successful hoisting of six sailors, and a critical emergency on his helicopter. Corporal Domonkos’ remarkable actions contributed to the rescue of all 31 sailors from the sinking vessel.
