Major Roberge deployed to the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti from October 2016 to May 2017. As chief military liaison officer, he led the military contribution to the joint United Nations-Haiti security planning for two national elections. Drawing on his Haitian heritage and Creole language skills to build ties with the community, he provided politically and culturally appropriate information and advice to the Force Commander and took charge of an initiative to support a local orphanage. Major Roberge’s exemplary professionalism brought great credit to himself and advanced Canada’s interests in the region.
