Guy Liboiron, M.B.
Medal of Bravery
On February 17, 2011, Guy Liboiron intervened to prevent a disturbed patient from harming others in a hospital, in Montréal, Quebec. Mr. Liboiron and another orderly had been chasing the escaping suspect down the halls of the hospital. At one point, the agitated man stopped running and pointed a pen-like object at them. The individual was about to press a button on the side of the object, when Mr. Liboiron, without any thought to the danger, ran to him and pushed the man's arm upwards. A .22 caliber bullet shot out of the pen gun and lodged in the ceiling. With his colleague's help, Mr. Liboiron held the man to the ground until security staff arrived.
