Daniel Magny, M.B.
Medal of Bravery
On July 14, 2009, Daniel Magny rescued a woman who was trapped inside a burning vehicle, in Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade, Quebec. The driver had missed a curve in the road, causing the vehicle to hit a culvert, roll over and burst into flames. Mr. Magny, who was driving by, stopped to assist. He reached in through the broken window, undid the driver's seatbelt and tore out the steering wheel. Flames were spreading out from the dash as he successfully pulled the woman out and carried her a safe distance away. Unfortunately, Mr. Magny was unable to search for the passenger, as the vehicle was then completely consumed by the fire.
