On May 26, 2001, Bruno Jean was seriously injured after pulling his daughter from the back of a truck that suddenly began to roll backward down a steep road in St-Félix d'Otis, Quebec. Mr. Jean was repairing the roof of his cottage, while his daughter was stacking the old asphalt shingles in the back of the truck. When the vehicle began to roll back under the heavy load, Mr. Jean ran to try to save his panic-stricken daughter. He managed to grab the victim and throw her to the side of the road, but he lost his footing and fell beneath the wheels of the truck, which continued to roll. The vehicle came to a stop against a garage after dragging Mr. Jean for 40 metres, causing him several serious injuries.
