On October 10, 1999, Donald Lamontagne rescued a farmer who was being attacked by an angry bull in Vianney, Quebec. The farmer was taking his herd of cows into the stable when his 1000 kg bull charged at him, hitting him in the stomach. The force of the attack threw him some three metres in the air. While the injured man lay on the ground, the beast charged again and relentlessly struck him with its powerful head. Witness to the vicious attack, Mr. Lamontagne raced inside the pen and, without regard for his own safety, confronted the frenzied animal. Shouting to distract the enraged bull, he managed to keep it at bay and was then able to help the farmer cross the fence to safety.
