On June 27, 1972, Robert Julien courageously prevented what might have been a very serious accident. Robert Julien, the driver of a 40-ton cement truck was making an adjustment at the rear of the vehicle when the emergency brake gave way and the truck began to roll into the four-lane Dufferin autoroute. He ran to the cab and attempted to climb up but was thrown to the ground. Pursuing the machine a second time, he succeeded in jumping into the cab, only to discover that the brakes would not function at all. He turned the truck sharply out of the line of traffic and the vehicle struck a concrete wall and came to rest. Had it not been for Robert Julien's persistence, without regard to his own safety, serious damage and perhaps loss of life could have resulted.
